The Columbia County Rural Library District will be updating their circulation, cataloging and public access catalog software, known as an Integrated Library System (ILS), in February.  The Columbia County Rural Library District Board of Trustees approved the new open source system “Koha integrated library system”with ByWater Solutions. ByWater Solutions provides ongoing support and will host the system.

Training for the staff on the new system will be January 23rd through January 25th.  The Library District will go live with their new system on February 21st.

Closure dates and time in January for staff training are as follows:

• Closed all day Monday, January 23rd
• Closed Tuesday, January 24th from noon to 5 p.m. – OPEN 5 to 8 p.m.
• Closed Wednesday, January 25th from 10 to 1 p.m. – OPEN 1 to 5 p.m.

The Columbia County Rural Library District Board of Trustees announces an opening on the County Library Board of Trustees. The County Library Board is taking applications for anyone who is interested in a five-year term as trustee beginning April 1, 2012.  Applications must be received by Chair Jay Ball at the Columbia County Rural Library District by January 13, 2011.  Applicants will be interviewed by the Library District Board of Trustees at one of their regular meetings in February with one person’s name being recommended to the Columbia County Commissioners for appointment.  The trustee whose term will expire March 31^st will be reapplying for a second term of 5 years.

Please pick up a Trustee packet at the Dayton Memorial Library, 111 S. 3^rd Street, Dayton during library open hours or visit the Employment page to view the packet and print off an application to submit by the deadline date of January 13, 2012.

Columbia County Rural Library District has expanded its services with eAudiobooks and eBooks. Best-selling and classic titles are available anytime, anywhere.  Anyone with a library card who lives in Columbia County can check out and download digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting the library’s Web site www.ccrld.lib.wa.us

(Click on eBooks/eAudiobooks at the top)  Choose from two different sources: OneClickdigital with Recorded Books or OverDrive with the Washington Digital Library Consortium.

Users may browse the library’s Web site, check out with a valid library card, and download to PC, MAC, and many mobile devices.  Users will need to install free software to download eAudiobooks. 

With OverDrive, you download OverDrive Media Console software.

With OneClickdigital, you download OneClickdigital Media Manager.

Both are available for our patron’s use.

Currently eBooks are only available through OverDrive.

Whether you are reading an eBook or listening to an eAudiobooks, titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period.  There are no late fees!  Lending periods differ between the two vendors.

Check out and download eBooks for Kindle or Adobe-enabled eReader devices (such as Nook, Sony Reader, iPad).  Check out eAudiobooks and download to your MP3 device or iPod.

Again, be aware that eBooks are only available through OverDrive at this time.  Recorded Books will be adding eBooks in the near future.
